Exam Pattern & Marks
Stage I: Preliminary Exam
400 MarksTwo objective type papers: General Studies Paper I (200 marks) and CSAT Paper II (200 marks, qualifying nature - 33%).
Stage II: Main Exam
1750 MarksNine descriptive papers. Two qualifying language papers (300 marks each). Seven merit-ranking papers including Essay, GS I-IV, and two Optional papers (250 marks each).
Stage III: Interview
275 MarksPersonality test conducted by the UPSC board to assess the candidate's suitability for a career in public service.
